Ranveer Singh, who is waiting for his film Dhurandhar to release, has apologised after facing strong backlash for imitating Rishab Shetty’s performance from Kantara Chapter 1 at the IFFI closing ceremony in Goa last week.
In an Insta post, Ranveer said his intention was only to appreciate Rishab’s amazing acting. He added that as an actor he understands how much effort that scene required and has great respect for him.
Ranveer also said that he has always honoured every culture and tradition in the country and apologised if he had hurt feelings.
During the event Ranveer copied Rishab’s famous chant and also referred to the female deity as a ‘ghost’ which upset many people.
Kannada audiences demanded a public apology and even threatened to ban Dhurandhar. With the controversy growing, Ranveer finally issued his apology.
Remember Ranbir Kapoor opening champagne saying “Jai Mata Di” and there was no guilt and no apology.
Here Ranveer Singh legit apologized despite his intention was clearly to appreciate the Rishab Shetty and nothing else. Such a beautiful human pic.twitter.com/hotKlf8F6Q
