Balu Mahendra’s cult classic, the 1982 Tamil film Moondram Pirai (dubbed into Telugu as Vasanta Kokila) is going to be remade and the stars being considered to step into the shoes of Sridevi and Kamal Hassan, are brace yourself, Kareena Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. According to reports, Ranveer and Kareena will be seen playing Somu and Nehalata roles respectively.
The remake is being made by Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor and will be made by Lloyd Baptista who is an ad-filmmaker-turned director. There was a lot of buzz that Vidya Balan will be playing the role of specially-abled protagonist, Nehalata, but looks like the maker really wants Kareena who is busy promoting ‘Ki and Ka’. It would be interesting to watch the pair onscreen given that there was some bad blood between the two after Ranveer Singh had said in an interview that Kareena should opt for more substantial roles. Ranveer had quipped,” In fact, when he was asked about Kareena, the Bajirao Mastani actor said, “Now I don’t feel that rush of excitement (for her). My feelings have waned. I’ve grown up. I was effusive about my admiration, but I didn’t do anything wrong. It came and bit me in the face. People really judge you.” However, Ranveer Singh’s best bud in B’town had intervened last month which resulted in Ranveer and Kareena burying the hatchet. Well, as they say, neither enmity nor friendship lasts too long in show business.
