Actress Rani Mukerji responds to the Norwegian Ambassador’s claims about her latest film, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, based on a true story.

Before the film’s release, Norwegian Ambassador Hans Jacob Frydenlund saw a screening and claimed it was a fictional representation of an actual case with factual inaccuracies. He also claimed that the film misrepresented Norway’s beliefs.

However, when the film was released, it broke the record of ‘Pathaan’ in Norway and had the highest opening for any Hindi movie. Even in India, ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’ has been doing well.

The actress stated that the film was not intended to offend anyone but to tell the story of a mother who needed to be told. She claimed that it is a true story and that the film’s intention was very different from how it was portrayed. She said it couldn’t be a made-up story because the Indian government assisted in reuniting the children with their mother. What should an Indian citizen understand when our government is involved? Exclaimed Rani. She went on to say that one person’s opinion will have little impact on the overall picture of the film.

Rani also stated that the film shows that the main characters are never involved but rather those who take advantage of the system. Everyone is concerned about their country, so they will try to defend it, according to the actress. But, more importantly, it should be about watching and learning about a true story. Rani also stated that the film is not about a specific country. Instead, it refers to a system requiring more emotional and sensitive examination.

Ashima Chibber directed ‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway,’ based on the true story of Sagarika Chakraborty, who fought the Norwegian government for custody of her children.
