The Kapoor family is reviving the iconic R.K. Studios founded by Raj Kapoor. His grandson Ranbir Kapoor has leased five floors in a commercial building in Andheri East, Mumbai for 20 years to rebuild the studio with modern facilities without fail.
The original Chembur property was sold in 2019 so the family is now starting fresh in a new location.
The new studio will be equipped with advanced virtual production technology, VFX units, music recording studios, editing suites, preview theatres, makeup rooms and even a small temple.
Offices for Neetu Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Nitasha Nanda will also be set up there.
All necessary permissions are being secured and the studio is expected to begin operations by June 2026.
