There have been rumours that Ranbir Kapoor has been chosen to play Sourav Ganguly in an upcoming film.
Bollywood has been producing biopics of athletes in recent years, particularly cricket players. The most recent of these was Ranveer Singh’s 83, in which he portrayed the legendary Kapil Dev. Two years ago, it was reported that a biopic on former captain Sourav Ganguly was in the works, with Ranbir Kapoor being the front-runner for the lead role. Once more, rumours about Ranbir being considered for Ganguly’s biopic are circulating.
In Sanju, a biographical film based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir did a truly great job. After his performance, Kapoor garnered a lot of positive feedback. A few days ago, news spread quickly on social media that the actor planned to visit Ganguly and Eden Gardens before filming the rumoured biopic.
Previously, Sourav Ganguly himself broke the word that a biopic on him was being developed and that Luv Ranjan’s production company, Luv Films, would handle the film’s production. Producer Ankur Garg provided some clarification in the middle, as rumours about Ranbir Kapoor reprising the character of Ganguly were regaining pace.
According to reports, when asked about the rumour that Ranbir Kapoor would play Sourav Ganguly, he responded, “Honestly, there’s no update to share at this point in time. After the premiere of our upcoming movie, we’ll concentrate on a number of projects, including the biopic. Casting or anything else hasn’t been addressed as of yet. Dona Ganguly, the former captain’s wife, is further quoted in the story as saying, “I’m not sure. I’m not sure yet, and the guesses are too early.
Sanjay Das, a close friend of Sourav Ganguly, was quoted in the paper as saying further things about it. “Nothing about the movie has been completed. The choice of the principal actor will need to be made within the next eight to nine months. When everything is ready, Sourav and the production company will officially reveal who will portray his character on screen. At this point, it is only a rumour that Ranbir Kapoor will portray Dada.
Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, is prepared to make a comedic comeback with the rom-com Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, which Luv Ranjan is helming. On March 8th, the movie, which stars Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor, will be released in theatres.
