India’s first submarine war film, Ghazi made in Hindi and Telugu, starring Tapsee Pannu and Rana Daggubati has been in production from 2016 January and the shooting of the movie finished recently. Now, the producers of the film announced the release date.

PNS Ghazi was the submarine used by Pakisthan to win over India during the 1971 war. The submarine was in action between 1965 to 1971, after it was installed in 1964. The submarine was sunk by Indian armed forces during the 1971 war near the harbour of Vishakapatnam in Bay of Bengal. They are few theories that Pakisthan claim to be true and they argue Indian army had no hand in sinking the submarine.

During 1965 war, Ghazi was the hero of Pakisthan in combating the naval attack of India, in its Operation Dwarka mission. It was the only submarine deployed in the war fought by both the countries and even though Pakisthan did not win the war, Ghazi was credited for withholding an entire Naval army attack and making it futile. India feared the submarine and designed plans to acquire new submarines with even better and longer range to counter the aggression.

During, the 1971 war, even though Ghazi was aged, Pakisthan in a desperate need took evasive action to deploy the killer submarine to combat Eastern India Naval attack to seize East Pakisthan. Finally, India with its intelligence understood the threat and were highly prepared for the attack. To depict this heroic story and the truth behind, Indian and Pakisthani claims of the same historic incident, young aspirant Sankalp Reddy came up with an interesting script. PVP is bankrolling the project and the Rana starrer will release on 24 Feb 2017.
