Ram Charan Tej is known for being highly successful with the second film itself. He scored a tremendous hit with Magadheera and then tried Orange. With Orange’s debacle at the box office he got into a thought process that he needs to adhere to the mass image of his father and act on the success of Magadheera.
His next film Raccha was accepted by audience and he chose to stick to such movies. His next films like Nayak and Yevadu also recovered costs but he received lot of flack for selecting such scripts. He went on to star in Zanjeer remake in Hindi released as Toofan in Telugu. The movie bombed at box office and his movie with Krishna Vamsi, Govindu Andari Vadele performed its opening week but lost its momentum eventually.
His next film, Brucelee failed too. He needed to follow success formula and find something new for himself very badly. Then he got an advice from Master filmmaker, Mani Ratnam who wanted to make a movie with him. In their discussions Mani suggested him to think about different subjects and films in between the mass image oriented pot boilers. Ram Charan took the advice to heart and chose Dhruva.
The move worked for him and he is happy with the result. With this positive result Ram Charan is elated and expressed his interest to be part of such films more rather than thinking about records and collections. He said collections are important but good films will eventually get there too.
