Rajinikanth’s latest film, “Jailer,” is creating waves at the box office, delivering a remarkable performance in its initial week. Following an exceptional first weekend, the movie sustained its impressive collections on Monday. On Independence Day, it capitalized on the occasion, surpassing its first-day numbers in several areas within the Telugu states.
The film has now emerged as the second-largest first-week opener in Kollywood. Previously, Rajinikanth and Shankar’s “2 Point O” held the record as Kollywood’s highest-grossing first-week opener, amassing over 450Cr+ worldwide. The film’s success in its Hindi and Telugu versions bolstered its numbers. The second position was held by “Ponniyin Selvan 1,” grossing around 330Cr.
Now, “Jailer” has shattered this record. With its current collections, the film is set to cross the 350Cr gross mark worldwide, with a 6-day gross of approximately 390Cr. It’s expected to comfortably exceed the 400Cr mark today. Overall, it will secure the title of the second-largest first-week opener in Kollywood history, following “2 Point O.”
Directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar, known for projects like Vijay’s “Beast” and Siva Karthikeyan’s “Doctor,” “Jailer” generated significant anticipation among audiences with its captivating trailer, songs, and star-studded cast featuring Mohanlal, Ramya Krishna, and Shiva Rajkumar.
