Rajasekhar is currently enjoying the success of Biker. In a recent interview, he shared an interesting story about how Maa Annayya came to life.
Rajasekhar revealed that Maa Annayya is a remake of the Tamil film Vaanathaippola which starred Vijayakanth. He said that he watched the film very clearly and instantly fell in love with it. Even after watching it again his interest grew very much stronger and he was determined to remake it in Telugu without fail.
At that time, many were interested in buying the remake rights, but the price was considered too high. The rights were priced at Rs. 75 lakhs and most buyers were not willing to go beyond Rs. 70 lakhs.
However Rajasekhar was convinced about the film’s potential and decided to buy the rights at any cost. He paid the full Rs. 75 lakhs in a single payment and secured the deal.
Later, producer Bellamkonda Suresh came on board, and the film was made as Maa Annayya. Upon release, it turned out to be a big success, proving Rajasekhar’s strong belief in the story was absolutely right.
