Raj Thackeray praised Bollywood icon Javed Akhtar during a rally for exposing Pakistan’s backing for terrorism.
Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), spoke to the state and his followers at a rally on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, as he does every year with the exception of the Covid season. The political figure praised Bollywood veteran Javed Akhtar in his speech for exposing Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism.
For those who don’t know, Akhtar just attended a gathering in Pakistan. He discussed the value of preserving a strong relationship between the two neighbouring nations there. He was informed that all Pakistanis are considered terrorists by Indians. In response, he replied that they shouldn’t feel insulted because the perpetrators of the awful 26/11 tragedy are still allowed to walk throughout their nation.
He stated, “The attackers weren’t from Norway, or from Egypt. They are still present in your country, so you should not be offended if an Indian complains about this.” Now, addressing this statement by Akhtar, Raj Thackeray said, “I want people like Javed Akhtar and many more. I want Indian Muslims who speak against Pakistan and tell them our power. Javed Akhtar does that and I want Muslims like him.”
The past month saw widespread distribution of the video of Javed Akhtar lecturing Pakistan, and online users praised the seasoned author and lyricist for his frank remarks.
Akhtar reacted to his own popular video by saying, “They (Pakistanis) all clapped. They were of my opinion. Many people are fascinated by India and wish to interact with us. We frequently imagine nations as a single entity. This is not true. In an interview with NDTV, the question “How can we connect with millions of individuals who want to connect with India” was raised.
