The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has intensified its investigation into an alleged Rs 60 crore financial fraud involving businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty.
Kundra’s statement was recorded for nearly five hours this week, and he may be summoned again next week for further questioning.
Reports suggest that Kundra claimed part of the disputed money was paid to actresses Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia. However, investigators noted that he remained silent on several important points, prompting additional rounds of questioning.
Sources revealed that the EOW has traced around Rs 25 crore transferred from the company’s accounts to multiple actresses, including Shilpa Shetty, Bipasha Basu, and Neha Dhupia, along with links to Balaji Entertainment.
The company’s finances reportedly came under pressure during demonetisation, leading to suspicious fund transfers now under scrutiny.
Kundra has also been asked to provide videos produced for Best Deal. The Mumbai Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing, and more individuals connected to the case may be called soon.
