We have been watching many movies these days that try to present everything in a package and hope the gift wrapping works big time with audience. Well, at times they are extremely successful but most of the times they fail to create a good enough movie. Let’s see what debutant Chandramohan created with Radha.
Plot : The film deals with the story of Radha Krishna (Sharwanand) who believes Krishna is the ultimate protector and he needs to act like him in life too. While he does quote a lot of his teachings he doesn’t seem to have complete understanding. He one day is saved by a Police and decides to become one. He gets posted at a village Barsanapalli with low crime rate and he asks for a transfer to highest crime rate town so that he can fight the crime with iron fist. Meanwhile he falls in love with Radha (Lavanya). He meets Sujatha (Ravi Kishan), the Chief Minister candidate, present Minister and ends up providing security to him. What transpires between them? Will Radha Krishna understands Krishna Tatva and implement it? Watch the movie to understand.
Technicalities : Script and Direction of Chandramohan in this movie look completely amateurish. He looks like a person who needs to be told about writing a movie. It’s not about just creating some sequences that are highly inspired from other successful movies than making an attempt to create one good fresh script from an exciting idea. He looses focus on what he wants to say in the mid-way and never recovers back. A good character goes through a journey in the runtime of a movie and in this Radha Krishna aimlessly roams around saying random quotes from Bhagavad-Gita trying to ape Krishna Tatva and not really understanding it. At large movie tries to give a meaning to everything but fails. That is the case due to lacklustre writing and the movie suffers due to it consistently through out the runtime.
Cinematography by Karthik Gattamaneni is definitely not his best work. He uses different kinds of lighting but DI looks too bad. Mainly the climax portion lighting makes up for a shabby work. Music by Radhan doesn’t work at all. The songs are stop gaps in the narrative and they won’t contribute to the story flow in any way. Background score too doesn’t work for the movie. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is good enough as the editor seems to have trimmed out the most unwanted sequences from the movie but it still feels too long.
Performances : Sharwanand behaves more like Nani on screen in this movie. He has his own style in acting and he doesn’t need to ape anyone. Somehow his comic timing in the movie doesn’t work for most of the runtime. Except for few scenes even his serious act doesn’t sync in with the movie tone. Still, Sharwanand is the backbone of this movie and in a galore of immature performances, he shines bright.
Lavanya Tripathi and Aksha are used as glam dolls without proper characterisations. They’re there to remind you that a movie requires an actress for songs and they can ace that. Lavanya also looks disinterested throughout the movie. Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ravi Kishan, Shakalaka Shankar, Saptagiri, Ashish Vidyardhi are just used as fillers on the screen. Ravi Kishan especially tries to repeat his performance from Race Gurram but lacks a good character.
Analysis : Telugu Cinema started suffering with lack of fresh and original content. Even this new cop comedy suffers with such catastrophically monumental laziness. Young debutant directors too need to understand that writing a commercial film doesn’t mean that you write a movie based on ten most watched movies in the recent past. The movie could have been lot better too had it tried to make some sense and ne original rather than end up spoofing other films. Watch it if you like the cast.
