Pushpa 2 Controversy: What Happened?
According to reports, a Karni Sena leader, Raj Shekhawat, has openly threatened the makers of Pushpa 2: The Rule for allegedly insulting the ‘Kshatriya’ community. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Rajput leader expressed his outrage over the negative portrayal of a character named Shekhawat in the movie. For the uninitiated, Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil plays the role of a corrupt police officer, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, in Pushpa 2.
The Karni Sena leader emphasized that the use of the name “Shekhawat” in the film has insulted the community. He warned the filmmakers to remove the name or face consequences. In the video, Raj Shekhawat can be heard saying: “The movie has done grave insult to Kshatriyas. The ‘Shekhawat’ community has been presented in a poor light.”
“This industry has been insulting the Kshatriyas in the name of freedom of speech, and they have again done the same thing. The makers of the movie should remove the continuous use of ‘Shekhawat’ word from the movie, or else, the Karni Sena will thrash them inside their house and will go to any limits as required,” added Raj Shekhawat.
Not the First Controversy for Pushpa 2
This is not the first controversy surrounding Allu Arjun’s film. On the night of the film’s premiere on December 4, a stampede occurred at Hyderabad’s iconic Sandhya Theatre when Allu Arjun attended the event. The chaos resulted in the tragic death of a woman, leading to a case being registered against the theatre owner. Following the incident, Allu Arjun pledged to support the victim’s family with financial aid of Rs. 25 lakhs.
