Producer’s Firm Stand on ‘Animal’ Critiques

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie “Animal” has stirred up a lot of talk, both for its impressive performance at the Box Office and for the controversies it has sparked. Some in Bollywood have raised concerns about the portrayal of antagonist Bobby Deol, suggesting it negatively represents a minority community. However, one of the movie’s producers, Pranay Reddy Vanga, offered a strong response to these criticisms.

In an interview, Pranay addressed the complaint, questioning the absence of similar objections over the portrayal of villains wearing the ‘Bottu’ (Dindi) over the past few decades. He emphasized that simply because a minority community is involved, people shouldn’t hastily criticize. Pranay advocated for unity, encouraging people to appreciate cinema as it is.

Despite facing controversies, “Animal” continues to grab attention and headlines, remaining a noteworthy film. Even with tough competition from SRK’s “Dunki” and Prabhas’ “Salaar,” the movie has sustained decent performance at the Box Office.

Reports suggest it fared well during the Christmas holiday and still managed good audience numbers in its fourth weekend. “Animal” has reportedly grossed over Rs 475 crore nett so far. Though it surpassed this milestone, reaching the Rs 500 crore nett mark might pose a challenge. Yet, industry experts believe it’s not an impossible feat.
