Priyamani, known nationwide for her role in The Family Man has once again made headlines for her bold views. In a recent interview she criticized the use of the term “Pan-India actress”.
“We are all Indians, so why use that term?” she asked. “If a South Indian actress works in Hindi films, she’s called Pan-India but if a North Indian actor works in the South, he’s not called regional. It’s unfair”.
The 41-year-old actress, who has worked across many languages said the label only divides talent.
“Legends like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Prakash Raj and Dhanush acted in many industries, but they were called Indian actors, not Pan-India stars”, she added with a smile.
Priyamani also urged audiences not to overanalyze films. “Enjoy cinema for what it is”, she said. She will soon be seen in The Family Man 3 and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
