After a few slow films, Priyadarshi returns with Premante, directed by newcomer Navaneeth Sreeram and featuring Suma Kanakala in a key role. The film released on November 21st. Let’s see how well this movie has impressed the audience!
Premante Story: Premante tells the story of a person (Priyadarshi) who avoids marriage because of financial problems but falls in love with Ramya (Anandhi) at a wedding and marries her. Just a month later, Ramya discovers a shocking truth about her husband. The film explores how this revelation affects their married life and what decisions they make to face these challenges.
Performances: Priyadarshi and Anandhi appeared fresh in different roles, but weak character development made some scenes boring after the initial interest. Suma Kanakala’s performance felt unnatural, as if she were doing a comedy skit. Vennela Kishore tried to be funny, but Hyper Aadi and Ram Prasad’s outdated jokes fell flat. The remaining supporting cast performed well and did justice to their roles.
Technical Aspects: Director Navaneeth Sriram chose an interesting story, but the execution weakens it. The film flows well until the twist, but later episodes test audience patience. Jokes often feel forced, and the ending isn’t logical or emotionally convincing, showing Navaneet didn’t fully impress as a director or storyteller.
Vishwanath Reddy’s cinematography is decent, but better production design and a higher budget could have improved the film. Leon James songs were dull, and the background score fails to enhance the overall mood.
Analysis: Even a familiar story can feel fresh if presented well. Preaante has an interesting core idea and talented actors, but weak surrounding scenes make it hard to connect. Director Navaneeth struggled to use the performers effectively, and the comedy especially needed more polish to land properly.
Verdict: Premante has an interesting story and good performers, but weak execution and underdeveloped comedy prevent it from fully engaging the audience.
