Premalu was a smash hit in Malayalam. SS Karthikeya, son of Rajamouli has bought the rights to the film and released the romantic drama in Telugu. Read our detailed review of this much-awaited film.

Premalu Story: Sachin(Naslen K. Gafoor), is an engineering graduate with a shy disposition. He harbors feelings for a fellow college student but struggles to express them. Despite his plans to move to the U.K. post-graduation, his visa application is denied. Unwilling to remain in his hometown, Sachin turns to his friend Amal Davis(Sangeeth Prathap), for assistance. Amal, who intends to pursue GATE coaching in Hyderabad, agrees to take Sachin along. At a wedding, Sachin encounters Reenu, played by Mamitha Baiju, and is immediately smitten. The narrative unfolds as the characters navigate through their journey.

Performances: Naslen Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju deliver endearing performances, portraying their characters with authenticity and charm. The portrayal of Sachin’s innocence and Reenu’s gradual affection is particularly noteworthy. The dynamic between Sachin and his friend Amal, along with the comedic rivalry between Sachin and Aadhi (played by Shyam Mohan), adds layers of entertainment.

Technical Aspects: The music by Vishnu Vijay and cinematography by Ajmal Sambu contribute to the film’s pleasant ambiance. The production values are commendable, with Hyderabad beautifully depicted and seamlessly woven into the storyline. Director Girish A.D., supported by Kiran Josey in writing, skillfully blends humor and romance, ensuring that the narrative remains engaging throughout. Premalu stands out as a delightful romantic comedy, thanks to its excellent direction and execution.

Analysis: Director Girish A.D. adeptly handles the simple yet engaging storyline of “Premalu,” infusing it with a lively and heartwarming essence. The film maintains a delightful balance between romance and humor, with moments that evoke genuine laughter without overshadowing the love story.

While Premalu receives minimal criticism, some viewers may find the initial scenes depicting Sachin’s family and hometown slightly sluggish. Additionally, those expecting a groundbreaking plot might find the storyline familiar and the first half slightly lacking in pacing.

There are a few grievances voiced about Premalu. However, the initial segments featuring the protagonist’s parents and hometown could have been executed more effectively. These parts of the movie tend to drag a bit, slowing down the pace. For those anticipating a riveting narrative, Premalu might fall slightly short, as it prioritizes delivering an enjoyable experience over presenting a groundbreaking story.

Verdict: Premalu is a breeze of fresh air in the world of commercial cinema. Though there is nothing special that is showcased here, Premalu ends as a delightful watch for its taking and endearing performances.

Bottom Line: Routine but breezy romance

Rating: 3/5
