Preity G Zinta has spoken candidly about her on-screen personas, admitting that she never attended acting school.
Preity G Zinta, an actress, has spoken candidly about the parts she has played on television, claiming that she has never attended an acting school or workshop since she simply wanted to get the job done on set.
Recently, Preity commemorated the 20th anniversary of the cult science fiction movie “Koi…Mil Gaya,” which features Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. She has appeared in a number of films, including “Dil Se,” “Sangharsh,” “Kya Kehna,” and “Salaam Namaste.”
Along with her unique movie image, the roles she had played were frequently regarded as culturally rebellious. Was this a deliberate choice?
Preity told: “There was a definitive understanding for me, even though I never went to an acting school or a workshop, I just wanted to get things right on set, to be honest. Script wise, whichever director gave me a script that made sense to me and the character aligned with my beliefs, I gave it my all. Even doing songs is very very difficult, you have to do them well.”
“I have always wanted to do different roles, something that challenged me or showed women in a positive light, different and progressive manner as opposed to just as an object of desire,” she said
The 48-year-old actress continued, “I also came from a pretty strict household, so I avoided taking on any jobs that would cause me trouble at home. Everything was mixed together. When I first began out, all I wanted to do was what was morally right and what I found appealing.
I didn’t have the luxury of considering how I would be judged as an actress overall; all I knew was that I personally identified with every role and gave each one of them my all, she continued.
The actress made her acting debut in 1998 with Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala’s romantic thriller “Dil Se” directed by Mani Ratnam.
She most recently appeared in the action comedy “Bhaiaji Superhit” from 2018 with Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi, Ameesha Patel, and Shreyas Talpade.
