Pranay Meshram is open about the sources of inspiration for his first movie, Akelli, which stars Nushrratt Bharuccha.
Newcomer Pranay Meshram, whose film “Akelli” is soon to be released, claimed that the narrative of a Middle Eastern woman served as its inspiration.
Nushrratt Bharuccha plays the lead in the upcoming true-events-based drama thriller. The movie shows the bravery and tenacity of an Indian lady who must make decisions that could end her life in order to provide for her family. The compelling story of the film is certain to connect with viewers and have an impact.
Talking about the inspiration behind Akelli, Pranay Meshram shared, “This movie is inspired by a Middle Eastern woman I met a while back. When I heard her story, I found her journey to be quite intriguing which led me to research about it further. What I stumbled upon was quite an eye-opener.”
Pranay Meshram continued, “Apparently, there are many who face the same issue and are seemingly trapped after travelling to such places in pursuit of lucrative jobs. My directorial debut ‘Akelli’ is an attempt at creating awareness about the horrors of such attempts made by people trying to pursue better livelihood/ job opportunities.”
Pranay had previously worked as an assistant director on films including “Queen” and “Hasee Toh Phasee.”
The producers of the Dashami Studioz film “Akelli” are Vicky Sidana, Shashant Shah, Nitin Vaidya, Ninad Vaidya, and Aparna Padgaonkar. The book will be released on August 18.
