Shakespeare’s well-known farce Taming of the Shrew will be adapted, according to Zee Theatre, in Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti. In this nostalgic visual feast, Prajakta Koli makes her teleplay debut alongside Shikha Talsania, Chaitnya Sharma, and Adhaar Khurana. It is directed by Akarsh Khurana, a veteran of theatre and film. Lakshman (Chaitnya Sharma) and Priya (Prajakta Koli), who are in love, are unable to wed until the latter’s older sister Pallavi (Shikha Talsania) marries, which creates the plot’s main conflict. Then, Lakshman comes up with a humorous scheme to try to marry Pallavi to a suitable NRI guy (Adhaar Khurana). The events that follow are complete mayhem, nonstop fun, and unbelievable wedding moments.
Director Akarsh Khurana says of the hilarious comedy that will make its debut on February 19 on Tata Play Theatre, “Some tales are just an absolute joy to tell, and ‘Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti’ was one such project from the very beginning. Shakespeare’s hilarious genius and the colourful idiosyncrasies of the 1990s, both of which I grew up adoring, were expertly combined by the cast and crew and I personally. Every time we practised, the script by author Adhir Bhat, Lisha Bajaj’s funny one-liners, and the actors’ enthusiasm rocked the house. I’m confident that the audience will adore this tale.
Actress Prajakta Koli shares her experience by saying, “I’ve done theatre previously, and working with Akarsh has always been a treat. He acts as a mentor and a counsellor for many aspiring performers, and I always seek him out for in-depth discussions.
I completely trusted him to help me write my first teleplay because despite being a prankster, he always gets the best performances from actors. I had a blast on the sets. The finished product vividly captures the happiness we felt during the session. The fact that this teleplay is so “extra” and entertaining will be adored by the audience.
Shakespeare, the 1990s, Akarsh, and cooperating once more with close friends equal Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti, according to actress Shikha Talsania, who plays Pallavi in the teleplay. I really enjoyed portraying Pallavi; I drew inspiration from all the ’90s actresses I admired and added a lot of my own craziness to it.
On February 19th at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Tata Play Theatre will broadcast Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti!
