Prabhas is prepared to bring a contemporary version of the Mahabharata after Adipurush’s Ram adaption.
For his role as Lord Ram in Adipurush, Prabhas has drawn a lot of criticism. The Om Raut film attempted to modernize the Ramayana but was viciously criticized and downright rejected for it. However, we are unsure how this would affect the actor and the plot of his upcoming movie Project K, which is allegedly partially based on the Mahabharata.
It was previously stated that the movie directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and the Baahubali actor is a modernized and updated version of the Mahabharata where Big B portrays Ashwatthama and Prabhas plays a version of Karna! The Third World War would serve as the movie’s setting.
According to mythological tales, the tenth Vishnu Avatar, which is claimed to take place in Kalyug, is the subject of the science fiction movie. The notion sounds intriguing, but given the uproar following Prabhas’ portrayal of Ram in Adipurush, playing Karna in a contemporary form seems like a risky move at this time.
According to information revealed in an article from last year, Amitabh Bachchan’s character in the movie was influenced by Ashwathama. In fact, he shares a significant action scene with Prabhas in the movie. After a long period, the audience would finally get to watch Big B in full action.
Even the movie’s makers stated in an interview with a Telugu YouTube channel that the movie is based on the contemporary Avatar of Vishnu, which Newsroom Post later translated and published. “The image incorporates elements of science fiction and the paranormal. Although it centers on the contemporary manifestation of Vishnu, it will be quite emotional. or oversee the action scenes, we’ve also engaged the aid of four or five prominent stunt directors. You’ll be left stunned by everything in the movie, the producer Ashwini Dutt said in a 2016 interview.
The Third World War and Lord Vishnu’s 10th Avatara in Kalyug serve as the film’s backdrop. It is so evident that Project K, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, is based on the ancient Indian classic Mahabharata. After portraying Ram, the Adipurush actor would take on a role that was loosely based on Karna, while Bachchan Sr. would portray a contemporary Ashwatthama.
It’s interesting to note that many earlier films based on the Mahabharata and the Ramayana gave the tale a contemporary spin. While Shah Rukh Khan asserted that the characters of Ravana and Ram in his action-gaming movie Ra. One and G.One were inspired by the Ramayana. Even the movie Hum Saath Saath Hain, directed by Soorah Barjatya, is considered a contemporary dramatization of the Ramayana.
Rajneeti, directed by Prakash Jha, was one of the films that came the closest to evoking comparisons to the Mahabharata. Mahabharata served as a loose but excellent inspiration for it.
