Pooja Hegde talks about Indian Cinema at Cannes

Pooja Hegde made her Cannes debut this year, representing India at the International Film Festival, which is held in the South of France. Pooja is the first pan-Indian actress to have made her appearance at the film festival and also the first South Indian actress to be a part of the festival.

She made her red carpet debut in an ivory gown adorned with feathers and looked like a princess, elegant and charming. At a conference held, Pooja spoke about Indian cinema and how proud she is to be representing Indian cinema on such an esteemed international stage. She said that she looked into the history of Indian cinema at Cannes and spoke about how India has always been a part of Cannes and has been represented there, from Satyajit Ray’s Appu series to Shankar’s Nayak and many other films. She took the names of several actors who have put Indian cinema on the global map, like Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan, Madhavan, Nawazuddin Siddique, etc.

Pooja also said that it is good that Cannes is honoring Indian cinema this year and said that it is time that the International film fraternity really looked up to the kind of films being made in India, which are on par with any other internationally produced film.
