Pooja Hegde had a national recognition as Fair and Lovely girl, before she ventured into acting from modelling. She was approached by Addala Srikanth, for Varun Tej ‘s debut film, Mukunda as the tall actress looked to fit the bill, with the actor as a perfect couple. The movie released and Pooja was praised more for her beauty has she did not have a well defined character but her silent expressions did show promise.Then she accepted to play Laila for love struck Majnu, with Naga Chaitanya in Oka Laila Kosam. In the movie, she gave a confident performance but she struck gold with Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of Lagaan, Swades and Jodha Akbar, selecting her to appear opposite Hrithik Roshan in his historical epic, Mohenjo-Daro.
The movie took 2 years to complete and release. Pooja did not go in search for other projects but developed a liking for travelling. She always wanted to but she had money and time, to see new places and find new experiences within India. She recently, accepted Duvvada Jagannadham with Allu Arjun, and when she has time from shooting she completed a vacation trip to Turkey.After, returning from the beautiful country, she expressed her desire to explore India further and reach out to all the new places. She also said, she likes to travel and do aerial flips in new areas. When she was asked about this new hobby of hers, she said she got inspired by singer Pink, during her performance for Grammies and started practing aerial flips. Since then she found it aspirational to do the flips as they helped her get fitter and more flexible.
