As the first part of legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project, Ponniyin Selvan was well received by the Tamil audience, the expectations for the second part are high among the trade circles. During the promotions of PS-1, the team has revealed that the entire shooting formalities from the 2-part series are wrapped up.
Meanwhile, the latest reports from Kollywood suggest that after watching the second part of Ponniyin Selvan on the editing table, Mani Ratnam felt that a few key scenes should be re-shot. If the news is to be believed, will Mani Ratnam be Able to convince all the star artists who did key roles in the film and bring them back on the film sets to re-shoot the portions that he felt would have been even better? Needs to be seen.
It is widely known that Ponniyin Selvan has leading stars like Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shobita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Jayaram among others in prominent roles. Currently, all the artists are busy with their respective projects. If Mani Ratnam wants them back on the sets, will the stars obey his request and cooperate for the re-shoot for key portions in the second installment of Ponniyin Selvan? Remains to be seen.
While Mani Ratnam himself bankrolled the Ponniyin Selvan project under his Madras Talkies banner in association with Lyca Productions, noted Tollywood producer Dil Raju has the distribution rights of the Ponniyin Selvan series for the twin Telugu states.
