He is now gearing up to contest as a Congress candidate in the Telangana assembly elections, specifically in the Nizamabad Rural Constituency. Recent reports suggest that he met with Revanth Reddy to discuss his candidacy and expressed interest in campaigning alongside his nephew, Nithiin, if he secures the Congress ticket.

In the previous election, the Congress candidate Bhupathi Reddy was defeated by Bajireddy Govardhan Reddy of the BRS party in the same constituency.
