Devotional stories are trending in Tollywood. The latest web series Pochamma, directed by and starring Ramesh Indira, released on Aha OTT. Now, let’s see if this mythological series has impressed the audience or not.

Pochamma Story: Frederick buys a coffee estate in Araku and moves there with his family. He removes a Pochamma idol near his house, after which strange things begin to happen. Soon, his daughter Jessie dies under mysterious circumstances.

Suspicions fall on Raghupathi’s son and others. As tensions rise, the story explores what really caused Jessie’s death and the unexpected events affecting Frederick’s family.

Performances: Ramesh Indira looks decent as Frederick, but his dubbing could have been better. Achyut Kumar is the major highlight, delivering a strong performance with good variations. Arjun Ambati’s role feels routine, while Priya and Snehal Kamat impress with decent acting and screen presence. Others are okay.

Technical Aspects: As a director, Ramesh Indira delivers a neat job. Even though the story feels routine, his screenplay keeps things engaging. The music and cinematography effectively build the suspense and suit the thriller mood well.

The production values are also decent, adding to the overall quality and making the series watchable despite its predictable storyline.

Analysis: Pochamma mixes a murder mystery with a mythological angle, showing how people misuse religion for selfish reasons. The series is engaging with just five episodes and builds suspense around Jessie’s death. The twist in the end is good, though predictable for some. A few scenes feel slow, and the devotional element could be stronger. Also, dubbing feels noticeable as most actors are from Kannada.

Verdict: A short and engaging thriller with a good concept and screenplay, but held back by a routine story and a few minor flaws.
