Right from early periods of Cinema, actors from one language were looking to create a market in other languages as well. As the larger the market expands the better their chances get to give massive hits. Shivaji Ganesan, Nagesh, MR Radha, Rajkumar, Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Vikram, Suriya and Karthi were successful in crossing over to Telugu market from Tamil. At various capacities, they were accepted by audience and producers thought taking them in their big budget movies to be a commercially viable idea.
With such long list of examples, all the latest Tamil heroes and even Telugu heroes are looking to crossover and reach to the other market as well. Mahesh Babu is making a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil with Murugadoss. Naga Chaitanya, is in talks with young directors to debut in Tamil and Nani, already acted in several Tamil films. With Bahubali, Prabhas also created a market in Tamil and his next film is planned to cater to the Tamil market as well. The most successful crossovers to Tamil from Telugu to an extent would be actors like Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao and Akkineni Nagarjuna.
Now, another hero from Tamil is looking to debut in Telugu. Ashok Selvan, is looking to debut in Telugu this year with a script written by Bharath Verma. Earlier, the actor has been part of Pizza 2 and Billa2. In the movie, he will share screen space with Swetha Dixit and the movie is said to be a new age romantic drama with a difference.
