Piracy Ban In Place Ahead Of Rajinikanth’s Coolie Release

The Madras High Court has issued an interim order directing 36 Internet Service Providers across India to block ‘rogue websites’ from streaming pirated versions of Rajinikanth‘s Coolie.

The order, given by Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, came after producer Sun TV Network Limited filed a case citing copyright infringement risks. ISPs have been told to block both current and future piracy-linked sites to prevent ‘irreparable injury’ to the producers.

Slated for release on August 14, Coolie has already shattered pre-release booking records in India and abroad. In Bengaluru, premium ticket prices have reached Rs. 2,000, sparking heated fan discussions.

Strong rumours suggest it’s a sci-fi action drama involving time travel.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, however playfully avoided confirming these speculations at the Telugu pre-release event, hinting only that the audience will be in for a surprise.
