Srikanth Addala’s career took a downturn after the disastrous reception of “Brahmotsavam,” where buyers suffered substantial losses. Following this setback, he ventured into directing “Narappa,” a rural action drama that was released directly on an OTT platform.
However, Srikanth Addala continued to explore the rustic mass genre with his subsequent film, “Peddha Kapu 1.” Unfortunately, this film fared even worse than “Brahmotsavam,” failing to recover even 1% of its rights cost. Buyers who had invested heavily in the movie faced a staggering 100% loss.
The global rights for “Peddha Kapu 1” were sold for Rs 12.5 crore, but the film’s release backfired as the audience showed little interest. With a poor word of mouth, the film earned less than Rs 30 lakh on its opening day, shocking the trade and buyers alike. Overall, “Peddha Kapu 1” turned out to be a bigger disaster than “Brahmotsavam.”
The film featured Virat Karna and Pragathi Srivastava in lead roles, with supporting cast members including Rao Ramesh, Aadukalam Naren, Tanikella Bharani, Naga Babu, Brigada Saga, Rajeev Kanakala, Anasuya, Eeshwari Rao, and Naren. Miriyala Ravinder Reddy produced the film under the Dwarka Creations banner.
