Pandem Kodi, a movie about faction between two villages that makes a college student take knife into his fans became a huge hit, when it released a decade ago. Now, after exactly 13 years, sequel to the original movie released as Pandem Kodi-2. Vishal, Keerthy Suresh and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar acted in the movie as main leads. Let’s discuss how the movie is…
Plot : Balu (Vishal) comes to his village after completing his education in foreign countries. Upon his return, he is asked to not indulge in any fights by opposition. But as they want to establish their control, Bhavani (Varalakshmi Sarath kumar) looks to erase Balu’s family. A fight ensues and that continues till the end of the movie. What is the outcome? Watch the movie on big screen.
Performances : Vishal is very good in the character Balu and he did improve from the original film. His style, mass appeal has become his big USP but this film needed a strong character to support him, unfortunately, his is a week on..
Keerthy Suresh did her job well. She was hyperactive in the film and that gave her a new dimensional character in his career. Varalakshmi Sarath kumar is too good as the antagonist but her character needed many more depth. All others couldn’t really shine as much as the main three.
Technicalities : Praveen K.L, the editor of the film tried his best to it at least a passable film. But the second half, did not help him at all.
K.A. Sakthivel, Cinematographer of the film did a job in lighting department. But other aspects didn’t havehis yuli
Yuvan Shankar Raja gave music for the film. His songs are not good enough but his BGM work is really great. He elevated various right scenes really welllm
Linguswamy, directed the movie in Tamil and dubbed it in Telugu. Movie starts off where the earlier one ends. Here, director couldn’t really present the faction as effectively as he did in the first one. The screenplay writer and director, couldn’t really evoke emotios, like he did in first one. He caught up with his best after derailing the momentum of the subject.
Analysis : Movie starts off well in the first hour with Keerthy Suresh looking hyper active and very adorable as a village girl. Vishal does his best to please the audience. But the script isn’t balanced enough. It is outdated and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar even though gives an inspired performance, script fails her miserably.
The movie has some good moments in First hour but the second hour is too long and predictable. Linguswamy, used to delivering a magical screenplay for wafer thin plot but that seems to be a huge miss, now. It is hard to even watch it once.
Rating : 1.5/5
