The Padma Awards, among India’s highest civilian honours were announced today for the year 2026. Veteran actor Dharmendra has been selected for the Padma Vibhushan while actor Mammootty and renowned advertising professional Piyush Pandey will receive the Padma Bhushan.
Tollywood actors Rajendra Prasad and Murali Mohan have been honoured with the Padma Shri. The award presentation ceremony is expected to be held in New Delhi in April. This year the Government of India has approved a total of 131 Padma Awards across various categories.
Several achievers from the Telugu states have also been recognised for their outstanding contributions. From Telangana, Chandramouli Gaddamanugu, Krishnamurthy Balasubramanian and Kumarasamy Thangaraj were honoured in Science and Engineering while Deepika Reddy received the award in Art.
Guduru Venkat Rao was selected for Medicine, and Rama Reddy Mamidi for Animal Husbandry. From Andhra Pradesh, Rajendra Prasad, Garimella Balakrishna Prasad and Murali Mohan were honoured in Art while Vempati Kutumba Sastry received the award for Literature and Education.
