The Andhra Pradesh government has stuck to its decision of audiences having to book tickets online through a government-run portal, and no permissions for special and extra shows. This is going to greatly impact the revenue for theatres in AP, and the exhibition industry is already suffering in the state, due to an all-time low pre-release business.
While the situation in Telangana is friendly for the producers, AP has a lot of stakes in the business as well, which would have a good impact on them. As a result, with AP not about to bring the producers any solace anytime soon, it is being said that all producers are now considering releasing their films on OTT platforms as their safest and best option.
OTT platforms are said to have turned into safe havens for producers, as there’s a guarantee that comes with streaming rights, and exclusive streaming rights, which mean that a film is directly released on OTT platforms. Megastar Chiranjeevi has appealed to AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, to reconsider their decision, but the CM hasn’t yet given a response.
