Ori Devuda starring Vishwak Sen and Mithila Palkar in the lead roles under the direction of Ashwath Marimuthu has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Childhood buddies Arjun Durgaraju ( Vishwak Sen) and Anu Paulraj ( Mithila Palkar) decide to marry and start a new life. Later, the scene shifts to family court where the couple appear for a final hearing to obtain a mutual divorce.

But as an unexpected scenario, Anu faints and will be rushed to the hospital. This is the time, a person meets Arjun and gives him visiting card and goes unidentified. Later, the proceedings lead to the introduction of God( Victory Venkatesh). After meeting God, Arjun’s life takes a new turn. What kind of incidents happen in Arjun’s life later? Will Arjun continues his marriage relationship with Anu? How will things change Arjun’s mindset, forms the crucial crux.

Performances: Vishwak Sen and Mithila Palkar perfectly fitted as the lead pair. Their acting is an advantage for this fantasy drama. The chemistry between Vishwak and Mithila is showcased in an adorable way. Actor Venkatesh Kakumanu is good in his common friend role.

Victory Venkatesh is a surprise package for the movie. His screen presence as God adds a fresh vibe to the proceedings. Rahul Ramakrishna as God’s assistant is fine with his dialogue delivery and comic one-liners.

Murali Sharma and Nagineedu are perfect in their given father roles. Rest of the artists did their job decently.

Technicalities: Music by Leon James is good as his instrumentation elevates the mood of the film nicely. The songs are audible on the screen and the background score works well.

The cinematography work by Vidhu Ayyanna is nice as he showcased the entire film on a captivating note. Editing by Vijay Mukthavarapu is apt to the film’s genre.

Production values for this breezy fantasy drama are good.

Analysis: Though the film is an official remake of the 2020 Tamil breezy hit, Oh My Kadavule, the team took enough care to not repeat the same texture. While director Ashwath Marimuthu who helmed the original version as well dealt with the subject by incorporating Telugu sensibilities, the Telugu version dialogues written by Tharun Bhascker are definitely a major plus.

Compared to emotional connection in the second half, the first half proceedings run on a flat note. If the first half is also packed with a heavy dose of entertainment content, the result would have been unanimous.

To summerize, Ori Devuda is a decent rom-com entertainer that has emotional charged feel-good moments in the second half. Along with the lead pair’s performance, the relatable youthful content comes as merits for the movie.

Verdict: Passable rom-com!
