Ram Pothineni took a major risk this year, having decided to make his Tamil debut, with The Warrior, directed by Tamil director Linguswamy. It looked like the film would do well in the Tamil market, even though it looked like a hit or a miss in Telugu. However, the film turned out to be a major disappointment in the Tamil and Telugu markets as well.
With the confidence of the film doing well at the box office, the makers didn’t hesitate when it came to the budget of the film. With The Warrior turning out to be a disaster, the makers of his next film, which will be directed by Boyapat Srinu, are weary, when it comes to the budget. Despite that, the film is reportedly going to be made as a pan-Indian film.
Considering that Ram couldn’t make his mark on the Tamil audiences, our neighboring state, it seems too far-fetched to think that a pan-Indian film would work. Moreover, Boyapati has never been known to make subjects that would appeal to a large audience, as they are mostly rooted in the sensibilities of the Telugu people. This does seem like an unnecessary risk for the actor.
