Onir Felicitated for his Queer Film Pinecone !

During a recent award event, Raveena Tandon honored the director Onir for his LGBT movie Pine Cone.

At the 14th Kashish International Queer Film Festival’s opening event, actress Raveena Tandon presented filmmaker Onir with the coveted Kashish Rainbow Warrior Award in recognition of his film “Pine Cone.” The occasion honored diversity, inclusivity, and the potency of film.

The movie investigates the nuances of gay relationships, challenging accepted social mores and illuminating the LGBTQ+ community’s realities.

In light of Pride Month and the current discussion surrounding same-sex marriage, the Kashish Rainbow Award has a special meaning for Onir.

Onir said, “This award is incredibly special, not only because it is Pride Month, but also because it’s Kashish, and it’s special that this award of love happens in My city … Mumbai. I thank Kashish Film Festival and Sridhar for this award. I am humbled.”

Onir also gave Raveena Tandon, who has been his devoted friend and supporter for the past 23 years, his sincere gratitude. “I am honored to receive this award from my lifetime friend and ally Raveena. And I’m glad to have my best friend and biggest supporter, Nikhil, as well as my business partner, Sanjay Suri, in the crowd tonight.

“This award is for all those in nations around the world where we are still criminalized, killed, and degraded,” Onir continued. This is to let them know that we’ll triumph and that we’re thinking about them.
