The trailer for One Friday Night, which stars the ’90s pair Raveena Tandon and Milind Soman, has been out. The compelling drama investigates relational intricacies, secrets, and the unexpected turns life can take. The movie is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Manish Trehan for Jio Studios, and it is directed by Manish Gupta. One Friday Night will be available to stream for free on Jio Cinema starting on July 28.

Story: Lata and Ram Verma (Milind Soman and Raveena Tandon) have been married for twenty years. Lata is a gynaecologist and Ram is a business magnate. Ram is having an extramarital relationship with Niru (Vidhi Chitalia). He takes her to his vacation home while telling his wife that he is leaving for the airport. Stormy weather develops in the interim. Ram is shocked when Niru informs him that she is two months pregnant in the vacation home. Ram instructs the villa’s caretaker to purchase treats from the city to commemorate her pregnancy. Niru wants Ram to face his wife about their connection while the villa’s caretaker is away, much to Ram’s chagrin, but he vows to let her know eventually. Ram is accidently pushed off the balcony by Niru when the two are having fun bantering, and he lands on his head. The narrative that follows takes readers through the bizarre events that take place on “One Friday Night.”

Performances: The performances by Milind Soman and Raveena Tandon are pretty simple. The two’s preparation for their roles in the movie is obviously lacking. Milind just isn’t excellent in the dramatic scenes.
As Niru, Vidhi Chitalia performs the part of a vivacious young woman honestly. She, too, doesn’t stand out, though, as the movie’s mediocrity ensnares her.

Technicalities: Director Manish Gupta deftly steers clear of theatrics and clichés while dealing with the delicate subject matter. Instead, he gives the narrative room to breathe, engrossing the audience in the inner conflict and ethical quandaries of the protagonists. The movie’s pacing is well-balanced, giving the characters enough of time to grow and the emotions room to simmer and build to a sad and thought-provoking ending.

One Friday Night is heightened by its outstanding acting, compelling narrative, and moving photography. The film’s eerie score elevates the emotional impact of the story and draws the audience into the struggles and emotions of the protagonists.

Analysis: One Friday Night is a short film that doesn’t squander time or go overboard at only about 85 minutes. The stunning and unanticipated plot surprise towards the climax improves an otherwise unimpressive movie. However, it is admirable that a movie of this nature was produced with such low funding.

The writing and execution of One Friday Night are amateurish. Simply put, the dialogues are subpar. Even though the movie is brief, some of the scenes seem too drawn out and boring. The majority of the actors perform ineffectively, which causes me as a spectator to nearly feel disengaged over the course of the movie.

Verdict: One Friday Night is a boring thriller drama with mediocre acting. A lot could have been done to improve the narrative, production, and acting to make the movie more watchable.
One Friday Night is currently available on Jio Cinema.
