OMG! 400 kg gold for a film..!

Sanjay Leela Bhashali is known for his penchant to create a whole new world for his movies. He wants everything to be authentic and tries to make it as perfect as anyone can imagine. He created never ever before seen sets representing old Bengal Hawelis for Devdas. After that he created big poetic sets for his films like Black, Ram Leela. He mesmerised with the detailing in Bajirao Mastani and now, he has taken it all a step further with Padmavathi.

Rajput families are known for decorating their ladies with heavy jewellery sets. They pass it on a family heritage to next generations and when you’re trying to depict a story of a princess from Rajput family like, Rani Padmavathi, you need jewellery to be as authentic and as glamorous as it can be. So, for his Magnum Opus Sanjay signed a deal with Tanishq Jewellers and more 400 Kg gold is used to design the varius ornaments of Padmavathi. Deepika Padukone had to wear them and return to the makers every day after the shoot completed.

For the jewellery, the company took insurance and also had a security person overseeing everyday the whereabouts of the jewellery. The cost of the jewellery is more than 10 crores and also, the movie had to order some more designs separately and a total cost of 15 crores, approximately has been spent on jewellery it seems. Also, jewels wore by Shahid Kapoor and Sultan Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer Singh had to be specially designed. All these will be kept on display and the makers will sell resembling designs soon after the release of the movie. The movie is releasing on 1st of December.
