OMG 2 sells thousands of tickets days prior to release

OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi, is predicted to be this weekend’s second-most popular Hindi movie choice. The possibility of a double digit opening remains.

Less than 3 days remain till the theatrical debut of OMG 2, which was directed by Amit Rai and stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. It is a follow-up to the wildly popular dramedy OMG – Oh My God! The anticipation for the movie is adequate and undoubtedly higher than that of recent Akshay Kumar starrers. The film has managed to sell 16000 tickets in the top 3 national multiplexes as of 12 p.m. on the 8th of August, 2023, for the opening day despite receiving a “A” certificate from the Indian censor board and premiering alongside a blockbuster like Gadar 2: The Katha Continues.

In three different multiplex chains, PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, OMG 2 has sold 16,000 tickets. PVR takes the lead with 8500 tickets, followed by Inox and Cinepolis with 4500 and 3000 tickets, respectively. Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar’s previous Independence Week film, had only sold 6500 tickets across the three national chains three days before it opened. Since it will be a busy week for exhibitors, there are still programming concerns that are being resolved. Along with Gadar 2, there are a few significant south Indian films (Jailer and Bhola Shankar) and, of course, the holdover Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which is also vying for a sizable number of screens in week 3.

OMG 2 should aim for a double digit opening day if it receives the best promotion outside of national chains. In the event that the content is well received, this would set a solid basis for the remainder of the weekend.

The spiritual sequel to OMG (Oh My God!) is OMG 2. The controversial topic of sex education is the main emphasis of the movie. Akshay Kumar portrays Lord Shiva’s messenger, and Pankaj Tripathi portrays a devout believer. Reprising her previous position as an advocate who opposes Pankaj Tripathi’s persona, Yami Gautam.

OMG 2 will begin playing in theatres on August 11th, 2023. The movie is currently available for pre-order.
