Om Raut Reveals Prabhas Wasn’t Ready to Play Ram in Adipurush

Adipurush Om Raut claims that persuading Prabhas to portray Lord Ram in Adipurush was difficult. The movie is getting negative reviews from viewers.

On June 16, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, was released in theatres to mixed reviews from viewers. Aside from the actor’s portrayal of Lord Raghava, the movie is being mocked for its visual effects, storyline, dialogues, and other aspects. The only reason the mythical movie is doing well at the box office is because of the all-Indian actor Prabhas. But did you know that at first he wasn’t prepared to play the part on camera? Yes, the director was persuaded, and he was eventually cast as Lord Ram.

In a recent interview, Om Raut discussed how he persuaded Prabhas to accept the part, saying, “To be honest, it was not easy to convince him because I had a phone discussion with him during the pandemic when we were all stuck. He asked me, “What is it that you want me to play?” The dialogue went something like this. I responded, “Are you serious?” I want you to portray Prabhu Shri Ram, that’s what I mean. I want you to portray Raghav in the play. Are you sure, he asked? I affirmed. After that, he said, “How will this happen?” With such a prominent star, it was impossible to narrate the movie over a Zoom call.

The director recalled how he set up a pilot to fly from Mumbai to Hyderabad the same day in order to give Prabhas a script narration. “I travelled to Hyderabad, and after I described the movie to him, he agreed right away. He expressed great excitement and has consistently supported me and the course I wanted to take. By the grace of God, I believe he will still be there in the future,” he was quoted as saying.

The makers of Adipurush declared that the team will modify the sentences in the movie that offended viewers following a significant outcry. Adipurush is not like the Ramayana, according to movie buffs, and many of them expressed their extreme disappointment.

Saif Ali Khan plays Lankesh (Ravana), Devdatta Nage plays Hanuman, and Kriti Sanon plays Janaki (Sita) in the movie. Rajesh Nair, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, and Prasad Sutar are the financiers of the massively expensive pan-Indian movie. A massive sum of Rs. 500 crores is apparently being used to produce the masterpiece.
