Akkineni Nagarjuna, is playing the role of Hathi Ram Baba in the devotional epic, Om Namo Venkatesya directed by K Raghavendra Rao and he has been busy these days with his promotional activity. The music of the film, given by MM Keeravani is also being praised as the good devotional album after a long time since Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu. Akhilanda Koti, Kamaneeyam and Pareeksha have found much appreciation from the common listeners as well. The movie is looked upon closely by the trade enthusiasts and pundits as it did a great pre release business and if it can recover the high amounts for a devotional movie or not is being the special interest.
During the promotions, several times Nagarjuna said they will announce the date only after the movie completes the censor formalities. It is no surprise for anyone that the Devotional movie would clear the certification process with ‘U’ but the movie received a clean ‘U’ and for few who were a bit skeptical after Pandurangadu that did have few or more unpleasant romantic sequences in the direction of K Raghavendra Rao, are happy with the term clean ‘U’.
The family friendly approach of Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu seems to have been retained by the makers again. The music and promos have already given the impression of the movie being another epic. The praise has been mainly centered around the performances of Nagarjuna, Sourabh Raj Jain and Anushka even after the censor screening. The movie is now officially confirmed for a 10th February release. Along with Nagarjuna, Anushka, Vimala Raman, Ashmita, Sourabh Raj Jain, Rao Ramesh and Brahmanandam are playing the crucial roles in the movie. Sequences involving Nagarjuna and Sourabh Raj playing the game and their discussions are said to be the highlights of the movie.
