Director Gunasekhar has come up with various different films and with different backdrops. He will forever remembered as the director of Okkadu and Chudalanivundi. He wanted to make a huge historical with Rudramadevi but the film even though eventually revived his career, did not become another Baahubali of Telugu Cinema.
The reason behind it is some shoddy VFX work. People liked his way of presenting Anushka Shetty in the lead role and Allu Arjun’s Gona Ganna Reddy role became a treat for his fans. The movie did not win the ultimate box office success due to the visual effects. Gunasekhar had to do with what budget he could arrange and he even announced that he went broke due to the film.
Now, he announced Shakuntalam movie after the film, Hiranyakashyapa went into cold storage. Samantha Akkineni is playing the lead role of Shankutala in the movie. Gunasekhar wants to correct the mistake that he did during Rudramadevi, it seems. He doesn’t want to compromise on VFX quality and has allotted 60 percentage of the budget say sources.
The movie will be visual feast and Gunasekhar acquired the name of Visual director has he used digital effects when they were very new in his films like Mrugaraju, Okkadu and Ramayanam with Jr. NTR. Let’s see how he will overcome the challenges thrown by pandemic this time and come up with an epic on screen.
