Official: KGF2 overtakes RRR overseas

KGF, directed by Prashant Neel, is a film that started out very small in the Kannada film industry and had everyone scratching their heads when it was first released. Everyone wondered why such a small film was even daring to go pan-Indian, but the film took the nation by a storm, turning out to be a runaway hit and the biggest hit for the Kannada film industry.

KGF turned out to be such a huge hit that a sequel was immediately set in motion, KGF Chapter 2, which was released recently. The film was made on a bigger budget, at Rs. 100 Crores, of which every penny was noticeable on the big screen. The film opened to huge numbers in the Northern part of the country, something which RRR couldn’t achieve even.

Now, KGF 2 has officially surpassed the collections of RRR, the costliest film in India so far, overseas as well, putting it right after Dangal and the Baahubali franchise. This is indeed a major achievement for the film.
