NTR Mahanayakudu released amidst the worst possible buzz and with the weight of the first film, NTR Kathanayakudu’s failure crushing down any expectations from trade.
But being a Balakrishna film, that too, during the elections season about NTR and his struggle to rise to power and become a leader that many Telugu people respected, distributors and trade thought movie will get respectable openings at least like the first one.
Movie shocked the trade with less than 10 lakhs opening in major centres and it did get to double digits only in Ceded, Krishna and UA areas. It just broke all the worst first day records of previous disasters from star heroes like Officer and many more.
