No Telugu films after March 2018!

Well, even though it is sad, the things are really turning ugly for small and medium film producers has the distributing and releasing system has become monopoly in our Industry. Even though the distributors have decided to solve these problems within themselves, the digital print system has become a headache for many big producers too. In a meeting today, Telugu Film Producers Council decided that they won’t be releasing any movies after March, 2018.

Qube and UFO have been the pioneers in releasing digital prints. These days manual prints have given away to digital ones and that has made it easy for producers too, to quickly send copies to theatres once they finalise a release date. But the problem has arrived with UFO and Qube demanding VPFs while they are legally eligible to demand only processing fee. As VPF comes under exhibition and theatres owners have to take care of this. But, producers are pressurised to pay the amounts and Suresh Babu decide to fight this. He along with other producers, hence decided to not release movies after March, 2018, if this monopoly doesn’t get solved.

He met the press today with Mental Madilo team and said, “I am here with my team to talk about the monopoly that the digital prints exhibitors are under and how they are affecting the movies like Mental Madilo. Even Yupp TV kind of services with pay per view services that shouldn’t open until at least five to six months after the movie release, are killing theatrical business by releasing it on online portals by fourth week. We are losing out on good revenues due to this and I hope we will find an amicable solution to save cinema.” Suresh and Raj Kandukuri who produced Mental Madilo and Pelli Choopulu, will do another movie, Brochevadevadu raa, in the direction of Vivek Atreya.
