In the cheque bounce case involving actor Rajpal Yadav the Delhi High Court has refused to give him more time to surrender. The court had earlier ordered him to appear before jail authorities and surrender by February 4th.
Rajpal Yadav filed a petition asking for extra time saying he needed to arrange Rs. 50 lakh but the court rejected his request.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said there was no valid reason to extend the deadline and directed the actor to surrender at 4 pm on February 4th. The judge noted that Rajpal had already been given extra time and had not followed court orders on multiple occasions in the past.
The court also observed that Rajpal failed to repay money to the complainant, Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. He was supposed to pay Rs. 1.35 crore in each of seven cases.
Even after depositing Rs. 75 lakh earlier, around Rs. 9 crore is still pending. Due to his repeated non-compliance the court said there was no scope for leniency.
