Nivedita Basu opens up about Preity Zinta’s harassment by fan post

Preity Zinta’s harassment by fan post prompted Nivedita Basu to comment that she believes being a star exposes one’s life to the public.

Actress Preity Zinta recently wrote on social media that fans had harassed her. One woman kissed her child on the cheek, and a man nearly followed her cars and bugged her for cash. The photographers did nothing but stand and smile the entire time. Becoming a star, according to Nivedita Basu, VP-Content and Business Partnerships, Atrangii TV, and OTT, entails making your life public.

Nivedita Basu said, “I think the moment you put yourself out there and you’re a star, people want a slice of your life. They want to know what you’re doing, where are you doing it, when are you doing it, and how you’re doing it. So, I understand what Priety Zinta went through and do understand that people want their privacy sometimes they request it.”
She adds, “Like I saw Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt especially holding a lunch at their home after their daughter Raha was born and telling them that we don’t want anything, even with Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli.”

“I’m not sure if I followed it as much as internationally. As far as I know, actors are harassed and sometimes they also have issues. I have seen their lawyers actually putting it out there. I know of reporters who actually say they keep waiting for their scoop and actors putting out on social media first whether it is marriages or big landmark things in life. So, they’re also rendered redundant. I do agree she didn’t want her kid’s pictures out there, she could have probably requested them. I’m sure the press would honor it.”
