There is an ongoing debate in Telangana about movie ticket price hikes and special shows during festival seasons.
The government has been giving permission for some films and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has asked producers to share the extra profits from ticket hikes with film industry workers.
While getting ticket hike approvals is easy in Andhra Pradesh, producers often face legal cases over ticket hike orders in Telangana.
Today, the Telangana High Court directed producers to decide on ticket price hikes at least 90 days before a film’s release.
This can be difficult because many films do not have their release dates confirmed so early and delays or changes are common.
However the court said that as per the Telangana Cinema Regulation Act, 1955, the decision on ticket hikes must be made three months in advance for any film.
