He is the man who immortalized Laila Majnu, Devadasu, Anarkali on Indian screen and he also changed the mythological, folklore dominated industry to look at social love stories as an option for ever-lasting successful films at box office.His films Prem Nagar, Premaabhishekam set the gold standards for love stories. His stories became inspiration for visionaries like K. Balachander to create Maro Charitra on Telugu silver screen.
After taking the torch and legacy forward Akkineni Nagarjuna appeared as modern day Devadas in ‘Majnu’ and created a benchmark for future generations in love stories along with Mani Ratnam with ‘Geetanjali’. He further gave epic love stories in ‘Ninne Pelladutha’, ‘Manmadhudu’ and ‘Sivamani’.After him, his son Akkineni Naga Chaitanya took on the mantle with ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ and ‘100% Love’. After a few hiccups and not so love stories, he is back to create another gold standard for Love on Telugu screen with highly acclaimed Malayalam remake, ‘Premam’.
The audio launch event has been held on the occasion of ANR’s birth anniversary and he was remberered by each and every guest, especially Dasari Narayana Rao, the legendary director who made Premaabhishekam and 27 films with ANR. The combination made Megha Sandesam and many more matured love stories too that won awards and rewards. He praised Naga Chaitanya ‘s captivating smile and style and wished the team and the actress, Sruthi Hasan all the best for the film’s success.
Nagarjuna and Akhil wished the movie to be eternal like it had been in Malayalam and praised Rajesh Murugesan and Gopi Sundar for their chart bursting music. The theatrical trailer is already liked by many fans and expectations have soared up after the impressive soundtracks.Naga Chaitanya looked like he owned the film and at career best ease in the trailer. He at the function thanked his ardent fans for supporting him through his highs and lows.
He made it clear that the movie is about the story of Premam being told in Telugu but not an improvement or will it disappoint the fans of the original. He wished the film to be lasting classic as it had been in Malayalam.The film will release on October 7th during the Dussehra season. The function and the songs were appreciated and it was really a great tribute to the demi-god of love on Telugu screen – ANR on his birth anniversary!
