Netflix’s New Strategy For Swayambhu

Nikhil Siddhartha is preparing for his most ambitious film Swayambhu, directed by Bharat Krishnamachari and produced by Bhuvan and Sreekar under Pixel Studios, with Tagore Madhu presenting it.

Reports say the film has a unique OTT deal with Netflix. Instead of a fixed price, Netflix may pay an amount equal to half of the movie’s theatre net collections for digital rights.

Earlier, OTT platforms used to pay big upfront amounts based on hype and star power, but recent losses have changed their approach.

Now, many platforms prefer performance-based deals linked to box office success. If a film does well in theatres, it is expected to perform well on OTT too.

Samyuktha and Nabha Natesh are the heroines, and Ravi Basrur composes the music.
