Streaming giant Netflix came on board to produce a new web series, based on director Rajamouli’s Baahubali, which is set before Baahubali: The Beginning. Directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru were on board for this web series, and nearly 85% of the shoot was also completed.
Despite 85% of the shoot being completed, Netflix scrapped the show, as they weren’t satisfied by how the series turned out to be. According to the latest reports, Netflix has brought a new team to take care of the project. Jannat fame Kunal Deshmukh and The Girl On the Train fame Ribhu Dasgupta are said to be on board for this series now, which will concentrate on Sivagami’s life before becoming the queen of Mahishmati.
Wamiqa Gabbi was previously on board to play Sivagami in the series, who has now been replaced with Mrunal Thakur, who will be seen as the younger version of Sivagami, portrayed by Ramya Krishna in the original franchise. Further details about the project are yet to be announced, including the other actors that will be seen, and other crew members that would be a part of the project. On the other hand, there is a book trilogy as well, set before Baahubali: The Beginning, written by Anand Neelkanthan.
